Synbiotics

Prebiotics work reciprocal to, and conceivably synergistically with, probiotics. Gibson and Roberfroid first characterized synbiotic as 'a mixture of probiotics and prebiotics that usefully effects the host by increasing the survival and attaching of live microbial dietary supplements in the gastrointestinal tract, by specifically fortifying the development as well as by enacting the digestion of one or a set number of health promoting microscopic organisms, and in this way enhancing host welfare'.
